MotherShip Card Making with Art Club 3000
Join us for artist-led, galactic mother’s day card making with Kerry da Silva Cox from Art Club 3000. Art Club 3000 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing a free summer art program for students ages 13-19 who reside in the Queensbridge Houses. Students study artmaking with practicing artists, visit cultural institutions, and learn about applied arts and careers through mentorship in a small cohort. Art Club 3000 teaches students that we can use the power of creativity to make our own expansive lives and futures. By applying the same tools used to make art, we can imagine and achieve big goals. We inspire possibility.

Mothers Day Dance Dedications With Donna Uchizono
12:30pm – 2pm
Donna Uchizono and Molly Lieber, two mothers in the Donna Uchizono Company, will offer a series of improvised dance dedications exploring the body’s expansive capacity to share and honor each other’s stories. Grounded in the question—”if you were to dedicate a dance to a person, who would that be?”—the dedications invite the audience into a mutually vulnerable exchange with the dancers, anchored by the weight of trust and intimacy. People can watch, participate, or wander, whichever way they feel compelled to engage with the work.
Perfect City Map Making (Community Workshop)
1pm- 1:30pm
AVOIDANCE MAPPING – It’s a way to identify unconscious bias, the sophisticated ways we know about where to go and who to steer clear of, and how there are many cities mapped onto one concrete location. Led by Tiffany Zorrilla from Perfect City.
Drag Story Hour
2pm – 3pm
Drag Story Hour NYC produces storytelling and creative arts programs for children and teens, presented by local drag kings, queens, and royalty, in libraries, schools, and other community spaces in all five boroughs of New York City. Through fun and fabulous educational experiences, our programs celebrate gender diversity and all forms of difference to build empathy and give kids the confidence to express themselves however they feel comfortable.
#RESIST
3pm-3:45pm
We invite you to participate in #RESIST – a performative action created and led by choreographers Rosane Chamecki and Andrea Lerner, aka chameckilerner.
It’s an easy and inclusive choreography that you can learn, part of a series we call RESIST. The choreography of the hips is made up of the movement of writing. Parallel to the floor, it is as if the bottom of the pelvis is the tip of the pencil, and each letter spelled demands that a new step is taken; #, R, E, S, I, S, T.
Watch the attached video and let’s march together!! Bring friends and Signs!!!
